AMINE FORMULATIONS FOR REVERSE FROTH FLOTATION OF SILICATES FROM IRON ORE

The present invention relates to a reverse froth flotation process for removal of silicates from iron ore having K₈₀ = 110 µm using formulations comprising alkyl ether diamine and alkyl ether monoamine, alkylamine or alkyl diamine. The collecting composition comprises a first component a) which can be described by the general formula (I) R¹O-A-NH(CH₂)_nNH₂, wherein R¹ is a straight or branched hydrocarbyl group with 12-15 carbon 15 atoms, A is a group CH₂CHXCH₂-, wherein X is hydrogen or a hydroxyl group, and n is a number 2-6; and a second component b) which is suitably selected from the group of compounds described by the formulae R²NH₂ (IIa), R³NHC₃H₆NH₂ (IIIa), R²OC₃H₆NH₂ (IIb), and R³OC₃H₆NHC₃H₆NH₂ (IIIb), wherein R² is a straight or branched hydrocarbyl group with 12-24 carbon atoms and R³ is a straight or branched hydrocarbyl group with 16-24 carbon atoms.
