A backlight unit and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) having the backlight unit are provided to form protrusions at both ends of a bottom cover to widen a gap between each of both ends of a lamp and the bottom cover so as to reduce parasitic capacitance generated between the lamp and the bottom cover. A backlight unit(120) includes lamps(150), a bottom cover(180), and protrusions(181a,181b). The lamps emit light. The bottom cover has an opened box shape and receives the lamps. The protrusions are projected downward from both ends of the bottom cover, which correspond to electrodes of the lamps. |
