A method for polymerizing polyphenylene terephthalamide(PPTA) is provided to obtain PPTA having an intrinsic viscosity of 6.3 or more and a narrow deviation of intrinsic viscosity. A method for polymerizing polyphenylene terephthalamide comprises the step of polymerizing a monomer under the condition that a solvent maintenance temperature is 85-87 deg.C, the temperature after the injection of p-phenylene diamine(PPD) is 80-85 deg.C, the first injection temperature of terephthaloyl chloride is 10±0.1 deg.C, the second injection temperature of terephthaloyl chloride is 21±0.2 deg.C, and the reaction final temperature is 59 deg.C or less.
