PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a residue arithmetic unit capable of speedily calculating a residual value. SOLUTION: The residue arithmetic unit is provided with: a plurality of first residue arithmetic circuits 10 and 11 for calculating residual values by performing a residue arithmetic operation by using a divisor satisfying 2<SP>n</SP>-1 (n is an integer of≥2) for every bit group of a predetermined bit number of the first calculated value; and a second residue arithmetic circuit 14 for calculating a residue value by performing a residue arithmetic operation by using a divisor to the second calculated value acquired by connecting a plurality of residue values calculated by the first residue arithmetic circuit.
