PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a depth-directional movement determination device and a method that can determine a shake of forward/backward movement in a depth direction which is generated during photography. SOLUTION: The depth-directional movement determination device includes an image information acquiring unit which acquires image information, a motion vector detector which detects local motion vectors at a plurality of detection places in an image based upon the image information of a plurality of images acquired by the image information acquiring unit, a conversion matrix calculating unit which calculates a conversion matrix based upon detection results of the motion vector detector, and a movement determination unit which determines forward/backward movements of a subject along the depth based upon the calculation result of the conversion matrix calculating unit.
