PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a modifying construction method for an existing gusset plate, reducing construction failure and improving reliability of construction work. SOLUTION: In this modifying construction method for the existing gusset plate, which reinforces the gusset plate to which a diagonal is attached in a plane of structure of a frame 2 of a building, the existing gusset plate 5 and a first reinforcing member disposed on the front side of the existing gusset plate 5 and/or a second reinforcing member 7 disposed on the back of the existing gusset plate 5 are joined to each other by a bolt 8.
