PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup with high reliability that operates reliably when a nut and lens holder, which has abutted on a stopper and stopped, are driven in a reverse direction. SOLUTION: The optical pickup has first and second thrust bearings of a motor rotation shaft, the lens holder that moves in a thrust direction by the motor rotation shaft, and a pre-load section that applies a pre-load to the lens holder in the thrust direction, and is configured so that a position of the second thrust bearing can be adjusted in the thrust direction. Further, the first and second thrust bearings and the motor rotation shaft are formed with conductors. The optical pickup is manufactured by moving the second thrust bearing in a direction to approach the motor rotation shaft until conductivity between the first thrust bearing and the second thrust bearing is obtained using a conductivity checker, then moving the second thrust bearing in a direction to move away from the motor rotation shaft, and fixing the second thrust bearing to a base.
