PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic vending machine preventing theft of a bill by shutting off an access path to a bill identification device from a bill insertion port. SOLUTION: This automatic vending machine is provided with: the bill insertion port 11 in an outer door 2 opening/closing a front face of a main body cabinet; and has the bill identification device 14 identifying the bill inserted from the bill insertion port 11 in a rear face of the outer door 2. In the automatic vending machine, a theft prevention member 16 normally communicating the bill insertion port 11 with a bill guide port part 141 of the bill identification device 14, and shutting off the access path to the bill guide port part 141 of the bill identification device 14 from the bill insertion port 11, based on external force applied to the bill insertion port 11, is provided between the bill insertion port 11 and the bill guide port part 141 of the bill identification device 14. When an action of expanding a gap width of the bill insertion port 11 by sticking a bar or the like into the bill insertion port 11 is performed, the bill insertion port 11 is closed by the theft prevention member 16 to shut off the access path to the bill guide port part 141 of the bill identification device 14 from the bill insertion port 11.
