PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify authentication when a plurality of information apparatuses access network service sites on a network.

SOLUTION: An authentication system for determining whether or not an information apparatus connected to a communication network can use a network service comprises a parent-child relationship storage means in which information on a parent-child relationship between information apparatuses is stored, and an authentication control means which transfers the authentication state for the parent information apparatus to an information apparatus set as a child of the information apparatus in the parent-child relationship storage means and allows the child information apparatus to use the network service without authenticating the child information apparatus when authentication for an information apparatus is successful.
