PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress deterioration of total performance of a vehicle when an internal combustion engine is controlled according to a target torque. SOLUTION: In an engine system 10, an ECU 100 controlling an engine 200 carries out torque demand control and decides a throttle opening instruction value thr and an ignition timing instruction value pg according to a target torque Trref. In this process, if an estimation torque Tmes serving as an estimation value of an actual torque of the engine 200 is higher than the target torque Trref, a delay quantity DL of ignition timing PG is set basically, and the ignition timing instruction value pg is decided so that the ignition timing PG is delayed according to the delay quantity DL. The ECU 100 carries out ignition timing control processing. In this processing, if the delay quantity DL is not zero and a throttle valve 210 is in a WOT condition, the delay quantity DL of the ignition timing is forcibly corrected to zero, and delay control of the ignition timing is prohibited substantially.
