APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DIAGNOSING IED ABNORMAL STATE ON-LINE IN SUBSTATION AUTOMATION SYSTEM BASED ON IEC61850

A device and a method for diagnosing an IED(Intelligent Electronic Device) abnormal state in an IEC(Internet Electrotechnical Commission)61850-based substation automation system through the network are provided to diagnose the IED abnormal state correctly and reliably without increasing cost by checking an IED through the network based on feature of IEC61850 standards. An online IED diagnosis device(142) sets a tested IED and extracts backup information of the tested IED by referring to an SCD(Substation Configuration Description) file received from a station device(111) of a substation automation system(110). A backup IED(141) is operated by substituting for the tested IED according to the extracted backup information. The online IED diagnosis device determines an abnormal state of the tested IED by analyzing response information to a test pattern transmitted to the tested IED. The online IED diagnosis device includes an IED selector points the tested ID from an IED list extracted from the SCD file, an IED switching unit extracting/transmitting the backup information of the tested IED to the backup IED, an abnormal state diagnosing unit, and a result display unit.
