A payment system and a method for controlling the same are provided to simplify the procedures in the case of adding a payment service or an electronic payment unit online or offline. A mobile terminal comprises a downloading part(111), a memory part(112), a receiving part(113), a display part(114) and a transmitting part(115). The downloading part downloads a total payment program. The memory part registers and stores the first payment service list as the total payment program is driven. The receiving part receives payment request information for specific goods of a specific member store and the second payment service list available in the specific member store from an authentication server. The display part compares the first payment service list with the second payment service list and selectively displays a list of available payment services. If a specific payment service is selected among the displayed list, the transmitting part transmits the payment request information to the authentication server.
