<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To expand a capture range of a PLL (phase-locked loop) circuit in determining an optimum recording parameter for a disk when using a PRML (partial response maximum likelihood) identification method. <P>SOLUTION: In an optical disk drive 1, a PLL circuit 29 generates a reproduction clock signal based on a reproduction signal, and a CPU 38 determines whether the reproduction signal in reproducing test data recorded on optical disk 42 is locked by a PLL circuit, and controls a spindle motor control circuit 4 to change to increase speed of the disk when it is determined that the reproduction signal in reproducing the test data is not locked by the PLL circuit. The CPU 38 determines a recording parameter to be used in recording user data on the optical disk 42 based on an evaluation index of the reproduction signal in reproducing the test data and a strategy correction value calculated based on the reproduction signal in reproducing test data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
