PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-vehicle navigation apparatus and an emergency information providing method, which change emergency information acquired externally to an information presentation mode for output, according to the drive situation of a vehicle, and transmits the emergency information to a user appropriately. SOLUTION: The on-vehicle navigation apparatus comprises: an external information acquisition means; a drive state acquisition means; an information output means; and a control means for calculating an operation margin indicating the operation situation of a vehicle from data obtained by the drive state acquisition means and changing the output mode of the emergency information according to the drive situation for outputting to the information output means. The control means may determine that the operation margin is small when detecting that the value of angular velocity acquired from the drive state acquisition means is not less than 3.3 deg/s, or may display the emergency information on the information output means for standard time when the operation margin is large or may display the emergency information longer than the standard time when the operation margin is small.
