PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce capacity of paintings and calligraphic works information to be given to a viewer, to distribute the paintings and calligraphic works information having small capacity for satisfying a request of the viewer by broadening choices of the viewer, and to accumulate and store data having a configuration superior in convenience of the viewer. SOLUTION: An information managing method for paintings and calligraphic works comprises the steps of accumulating the paintings and calligraphic works information (full) having attachment file into a storing device 36, separating the attachment file from original paintings and calligraphic works information (full), producing link relation information (table 2) of the separated attachment file (attached) relating to the separated parental paintings and calligraphic works information (parent) in the original paintings and calligraphic works information before accumulating into the storing device, accumulating the parental paintings and calligraphic works information (parent) and the separated file (attached) into the storing device (s3, s4, s5), giving the original paintings and calligraphic works information (full) to a browsing request source when dimensions or authority of a browsing request exists within the original paintings and calligraphic works information (s11, s12), and giving the parental paintings and calligraphic works information (parent) to the browsing request source after adding correlation information (link) of external reference which enables the separated file to be referenced based on the link relation information (table 2) when the dimensions or authority of the browsing request exists within the parental paintings and calligraphic works information (s11, s13, s14).
