PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a pixel circuit causing no degradation in the grayscale of an electro-optical element even when light leakage occurs in a pixel select transistor; an electro-optical device and its driving method using the circuit; and an electronic equipment. SOLUTION: The pixel circuit 10 of an electro-optical device includes: a pixel select transistor 12 having one terminal connected to a data line DL and controlled to be turned on/off by a scanning line WL; an electro-optical element 40 in which the transmittance for light is changed according to a display voltage written through the pixel selection transistor 12; and a mechanical switch 20 disposed between the pixel selection transistor 12 and the electro-optical element 40. The mechanical switch 20 includes a fixed contact 26 on a conducting passage between the pixel selection transistor 12 and the electro-optical element 40 and a variable contact 24 to be contact with and away from the fixed contact 26.
