PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new apparatus for performing an exchange of printing plates by the plate cylinder of a printer. SOLUTION: The apparatus for performing the exchange of printing plates by the plate cylinder of a printer includes rolling parts 13 with a plurality of rollers 14 for pressing at least one printing plate onto the plate cylinder during the exchange of printing plates. A crosspiece 15 holding a plurality of orienting members 16 extending in parallel to the rolling parts 13, each printing plate between two adjacent orienting members 16 can be oriented in a correct registration within a stretched groove of the plate cylinder before the printing plate is stretched.
