COVER SHEET POSITIONING MECHANISM, BOOKBINDING APPARATUS EQUIPPED WITH THIS, AND IMAGE FORMING SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately position and set a cover sheet at a cover binding position and to enable bookbinding processing abounding in a covering grade. SOLUTION: A cover sheet positioning mechanism in a bookbinding apparatus for casing up and binding a sheet bundle with the cover sheet includes a bookbinding path which transfers saddle-stitched sheets collected in copies in the shape of the bundle to the cover binding position, a cover feeding path which intersects the bookbinding path and transfers the cover sheet to the cover binding position, and a cover binding means which is disposed at the cover binding position and binds the saddle-stitched paper sheets and the cover sheet together. The cover feeding path is provided with an aligning mechanism which has a nipping means for nipping and holding the cover sheet, a shifting means for shifting the nipping means by a prescribed amount in the front-back direction of and a direction orthogonal to sheet conveyance, and a control means for controlling the shifting means.
