PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing an ethylenic polymer, suitable for blow molding such as large-sized product blow molding, bringing about a high-quality blow molded product, well-balanced in creep resistance and impact resistance and improved in moldability. SOLUTION: The method for producing the ethylenic polymer comprises mixing (A) a chromium catalyst prepared by bringing a chromium compound into contact with at least one kind of clay mineral support selected from a group consisting a clay, a clay mineral and an ion-exchangeable layered compound and activating the resultant chromium compound in a nonreducing atmosphere with (B) a chromium catalyst prepared by bringing a chromium compound into contact with an inorganic oxide support other than the above clay mineral support and activating the resultant chromium compound in a nonreducing atmosphere.
