<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information recording/reproducing device and its trial writing method which can make power calibration on a layered hybrid disk without fail. <P>SOLUTION: This information recording/reproducing device can make information recording/reproducing on a layered hybrid disk by radiating a laser beam of a predetermined wavelength. When starting to record on a layered hybrid disk after mounting the hybrid disk in the device, it determines the optimal laser beam power by making trial recording on all the recording/reproducing layers in the inner power calibration area of the disk, and it also determines the optimal laser beam power by making trial recording on all the recording/reproducing layers in the outer power calibration area of the disk, and records the determined optimal power of the laser beam.
