PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a capacitor electrode with a larger specific surface area than conventional capacitor electrodes and a high capacitance, and provide an electric double layer capacitor using the same.

SOLUTION: An electrode for an electric double layer capacitor contains a collector electrode and an active substance that is carried on the collector electrode, and the active substance comprises a carbon-based fiber and a conductive polymer fiber that are formed by an electrospinning method.
