An apparatus and a method for restricting the viewing of data broadcasting are provided to set viewing restriction on contents of the data broadcasting, such as adult broadcast contents. A tuner(10) receives a data broadcasting program. A data broadcasting signal processor(32) processes a signal of the data broadcasting program, which is received through the tuner. A controller checks viewing restriction information from control information about the data broadcasting program received through the tuner, and restricts the output of the data broadcasting signal processor. An on screen display controls the output of a message with regard to the viewing restriction information under the control of the controller.
