<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device capable of reducing the overall length of a catalyst case to improve its mountability on a vehicle and improving exhaust gas purification performance. <P>SOLUTION: In this exhaust emission control device, the catalyst case 11, which is constructed by connecting an upstream side case part 11A, a downstream side case part 11B, and a connection case part 11C connecting the both case parts 11A and 11b together in series, is installed in an exhaust pipe of an engine, and an upstream side catalyst 22 and a downstream side catalyst 23 are individually housed inside the upstream side case part 11A and the downstream side case part 11B of the catalyst case 11, while an exhaust gas sensor 25 is installed in the connection case part 11C. When the upstream side catalyst 22 and the downstream side catalyst 23 are arranged aslant so that their axes cross each other, a wedge-shaped space S is formed between the upstream side catalyst 22 and the downstream side catalyst 23 inside the catalyst case 11, and the exhaust gas sensor 25 is installed on the radial one side on which the height of the connection case part 11C is raised. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
