<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin-film magnetic head capable of preventing contact between an element part and a recording medium, and suppressing a variance in element protrusion amount. <P>SOLUTION: The thin-film magnetic head is provided with reproducing and recording elements formed to be stacked together, and a heater heated by energization to project both elements to a recording medium side by thermal expansion.
