PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To divide gradations additionally finer than the resolution determined by the kinds of electrooptic materials and the time length of a sub-filed time, i.e. to realize a further improvement in resolution without increasing the number of sub-fields in an electrooptic device using sub-filed driving.
SOLUTION: A pixel circuit is provided with a first holding capacitor (C3) and a second holding capacitor (C4), and the connection of each holding capacitor to an electrooptic element (LC) is controlled by switch elements (SW1, SW2). The capacity value of the first holding capacitor (C3) is set so small that the display voltage of the pixel cannot be maintained constant in one sub-filed period and therefore, the voltage applied to the electrooptic element is slight and consequently the slight transient response not admitted heretofore arises in the electrooptic element (LC) and thereby the gradations can be divided finer.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
|
