PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a trans, trans-4'-(alkoxycarbonyl)bicyclohexyl-4-ylcarboxylic acid that can be suitably used for easily producing a compound containing different substituent groups at the 4-position and the 4'-position of a bicyclohexyl backbone and to provide a method for efficiently producing the trans, trans-4'-(alkoxycarbonyl)bicyclohexyl-4-ylcarboxylic acid. SOLUTION: The trans, trans-4'-(alkoxycarbonyl)bicyclohexyl-4-ylcarboxylic acid is represented by general formula (2). The method for efficiently producing the trans, trans-4'-(alkoxycarbonyl)bicyclohexyl-4-ylcarboxylic acid comprises hydrolyzing dimethyl trans, trans-4',4-bicyclohexyldicarboxylate.
