PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably detect specimens by preventing reductions and condensation in the quantity of liquid associated with evaporation, the movement of the liquid, and the occurrence of air bubbles when a prescribed quantity of liquid is heated in a channel of a microchip to acquire desired chemical reactions. SOLUTION: In a method for controlling the temperature of a microfluidic chip 200, the temperature of a liquid stored in a fine reaction channel 35 is controlled in the microfluidic chip 200 having the reaction channel 35 formed in a plane plate. The reaction channel 35 is heated to a prescribed reaction temperature, and, simultaneously, a first channel 49a communicating with one end of the reaction channel 35 and a second channel 49b communicating with the other end of the reaction channel are maintained at the same temperatures different from the prescribed reaction temperature by heating or cooling.
