PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing a useful substance, which improves reactivity and productivity without reducing a flow rate in a method for producing a useful substance, comprising supplying a liquid mixture, which forms two liquid phases, into a fixed bed-type reaction column packed with an immobilized enzyme. SOLUTION: In the method for producing a useful substance by supplying a liquid mixture, which forms two liquid phases, into a fixed bed-type reaction column packed with an immobilized enzyme and carrying out a reaction in an identical direction in a co-current manner, the thickness of packing of the immobilized enzyme per stage of the fixed bed-type reaction column having an equivalent circular diameter of not less than 35 mmψis 10 to 200 mm.
