Coating comprises at least 60 wt.% of a thermoplastic polymer binder with a stoving temperature of at least 300[deg] C and 0.5-30 wt.% of a metal oxide filler. Independent claims are also included for: (1) article with a metal or ceramic surface on which a coating as above is deposited; (2) producing an article with an adherent, dense, smooth surface by applying a coating as above in powder form and stoving the coating at at least 300[deg] C.
