The method involves detecting a momentary inclination of a measuring sensor (DA), which corresponds to an inclination of an inertia principal axis of the measuring sensor opposite to an intended reference axis (G). A visually and/or acoustically and/or haptic perceptible message is produced, where the message signals a deviation of the momentary inclination from the preset reference value in an qualitative manner. The detection of the momentary inclination of the measuring sensor is performed by measuring the momentary inclination. An independent claim is also included for a measuring system.
