The filter unit (18) has a set of inflow channels (28) and a set of outflow channels (30), where the inflow channels and/or the outflow channels are limited by filter walls (34). The filter walls are provided with a catalytically active coating. The catalytically active coating is radially distributed unequally over the filter unit. A sum of the catalytically active coating in a radially external lying area has a higher catalytic activity against a set of pollutants contained in an exhaust gas than in a wider internal lying area of the filter unit.
