METHOD OF ACTIVATING MEMBRANE-ELECTRODE ASSEMBLY

A method for initially activating a membrane electrode assembly for a fuel cell is provided to reduce the activation time of a membrane electrode assembly and to minimize the damage of a membrane electrode assembly during activation. A method for initially activating a membrane electrode assembly of a fuel cell comprises the steps of increasing the temperature of a humidifier(201) and a gas line(203) of a performance test equipment to an operation temperature; heating a unit cell containing a membrane electrode assembly to increase the temperature of the unit cell to the operation temperature; connecting the unit cell with the performance test equipment in the temperature increased state; and injecting a hydrogen gas to the anode of the unit cell and air to the cathode electrode from the performance test equipment.
