An apparatus for grinding an LCD panel and a method thereof are provided to remove a sharp portion and a shorting bar in a direction of the long side of the LCD panel and in a direction of the short side of the LCD panel, thereby shortening an entire process time and improving the rate of operation and a production yield. An apparatus for grinding an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) panel(110) comprises a grinding table(124), a first grinding unit(G1), a second grinding unit(G2). The grinding table loads the LCD panel and performs a straight-line motion and a reciprocating motion. The first grinding unit grinds both edges composing the short side of the LCD panel to be inclined vertically or at a predetermined angle when the grinding table moves. The second grinding unit is equipped in the same line as the first grinding unit to grind both edges composing the long side of the LCD panel vertically or at a predetermined angle. The first grinding unit comprises a vertical grinding wheel(150a,150b,152a,152b) and plural inclined grinding wheels(151a,151b,153a,153b). The vertical grinding wheel grinds the both edges of the LCD panel vertically. The plural inclined grinding wheels grind the both edges of the LCD panel slopely at a predetermined angle in the upper and lower parts. |
