<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the recognition accuracy of the position of an object in image recognition. <P>SOLUTION: A transition of matching between an image in a search window F1 and a reference pattern corresponding to a pedestrian image is acquired with horizontal movement of the search window F1 relative to an input image. It is determined that there is a pedestrian in an area having a width within a predetermined range based on the size of the search window F1 out of widths W11 to W13 of matching areas. As for the vertical direction, a transition of matching with the reference pattern is similarly acquired with movement of the search window, and the width (W21, W22) of matching areas is compared with the vertical width of the search window at the height to determine whether there is a pedestrian. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
