<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detection, identification, isolation, and selective labeling and targeting of TH1 lymphocyte, and a therapeutic method of infectious diseases, cancers, Th1 mediated diseases, and diseases associated with the imbalance of Th1 and Th2 cells. <P>SOLUTION: The lymphocyte activating gene (LAG-3) is a member of immunoglobulin super family selectively transcripted in human activated T and NK cells. LAG-3 on the surface of Th1 lymphocyte is used as a marker and can detect and identify Th1 lymphocyte, and discriminate from Th2 lymphocyte. A monoclonal antibody to LAG-3 is used for detection and isolation of Th1 cells and diagnosis of Th1 mediated diseases, and for the treatment of infectious diseases, cancers and diseases associated with Th1/Th2 imbalance. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
