METHOD FOR PRODUCTION OF METAL OXIDE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for production of a metal oxide exerting excellent thermal durability as a carrier material of catalysts even when in use under high-temperature atmosphere.

SOLUTION: The method for production of the metal oxide is characterized in that in the production method comprising a step for preparing a metal hydroxide by adding an alkaline material to an aqueous solution of a water-soluble metal compound, and a step for firing the obtained metal hydroxide, this method includes the processes for hydrothermal treatment of the metal hydroxide and for treatment of the oxide with a surfactant between the above two steps.
