<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of maintaining an appropriate fixability, stable image quality and the prolonged life time of a fixing part even if shut-off of power occurs due to some causes. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming means comprises: a first power source; a second power source for storing power by the supply of power from the first power source; a fixing device for fixing toner to a recording medium; a firm contact member constantly supplied with power by the first power source and used for bringing the pair of rollers of the fixing device into firm contact with each other; a switching means by which a source for supplying power to the firm contact member is switched to the first or second power source; a power shut-off detecting means for detecting shut-off of power supplied to the first power source; and a control means for exerting control so as to switch the switching means in response to the detection of shut-off of power by the power shut-off detection means so that the supply of power to the firm contact member is changed from the first power source to the second power source and so as to separate (S304) the firm contact member by power supplied from the second power source. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
