<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method of a brushless DC motor and an apparatus thereof, capable of obtaining a stable acceleration by allowing the brushless DC motor to exhibit its high-torque performance by forcibly switching to a driving means enabling high-rotation driving when acceleration to high-rotation driving is necessary during selecting the driving means enabling high-efficiency driving. <P>SOLUTION: When the brushless DC motor 4 is accelerated and driven while using a voltage obtained by rectifying an AC power supply 1 as an input of an inverter 5, an acceleration determining section 17 determines whether or not the motor is currently driven in a first waveform generating section 13, and when the motor is in operation by the first waveform generating section 13, the motor is accelerated after switching to an output signal in a second waveform generating section 14, and thus, the motor can be accelerated with an allowance at a driving limit torque larger than the driving limit torque in accelerating the motor by the first waveform generating section 13.
