PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophoretic display device having metallic luster and high contrast. SOLUTION: Display device particles are prepared by forming a cover layer of crystalline organic material having metallic luster on the surface of non-light transmissive particles. Electrophoretic display liquid comprises a dispersing medium and the display device particles dispersed in the dispersing medium.
