PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom lens having a vibration-proof function with a high zoom ratio and a wide angle of view, and to provide an imaging apparatus, a vibration-proof method for a zoom lens, and a method for varying power of a zoom lens. SOLUTION: The zoom lens includes, in order from the object, a first lens group G1 having positive refractive power, a second lens group G2 having negative refractive power, a third lens group G3 having positive refractive power, and a fourth lens group G4 having positive refractive power. When varying power from wide-angle end W to telephoto end T, the distance between the first and the second lens groups increases, the distance between the second and the third lens groups decreases, and the distance between the third and the fourth lens groups varies. The third lens group consists of a front group G31 having positive refractive power and a rear group G32 having negative refractive power in that order from the object. An image plane is corrected when a camera shake occurs by moving the rear group in a direction almost orthogonal to an optical axis. A predetermined conditional formula is satisfied.
