The method involves determining existence of a dynamic brake application based on which a reference value such as number of dynamic brake applications (A), indicating a current wear condition (VZ) of an electrical parking brake (EPB) e.g. disk brake, is updated. The updated reference value for the estimation of the wear condition is evaluated. A measuring signal (ms1), dependent on speed of a vehicle, is produced and is evaluated by a control system (SS) before, during or immediately after the activation of the electronic parking brake.
