The means (14) can display triangles (57, 58) connecting three xy corresponding to R, G, and B components belonging to a predetermined color reference system, a range (56) on the xy chromaticity diagram which a human can view, and/or a maker (60) of a range of the xvYCC display system. The means (14) can indicate whether the video signal color ((x(video), y(video)) is out of a predetermined range (51-54).
