A system and a method for providing selected AD(ADvertisement) in a VOD(Video On-Demand) system are provided to prevent a user from viewing again the AD by providing the user with an AD program table formed based on contents/AD view histories of the user as well as characteristics of the user and providing the AD selected among the AD program table. A contents server(12) provides contents stored in a contents database(15) according to a default program table and a user request. A service management head-end(11) provides the default program table to an AD server(13) and the contents server, manages connected users, and provides the customized AD program table by analyzing taste of the user based on contents and AD view logs of the user. An STB(Set-Top Box)(30) receives user authentication by connecting to the service management head-end, displays AD/contents received from the AD/contents servers and the customized AD program table received from the service management head-end to a display device of the user, and requests the AD, which is selected by the user from the customized AD program table, to the AD server. The AD displayed to the user is removed from the customized AD program table to prevent the user from viewing again the AD. The AD sever stores plural kinds of AD data at an AD database(16), and transfers the AD data to the STB according to the request from a user. |
