A method and an apparatus for changing the channel in a data broadcasting receiver are provided to link data broadcasting to a previously recorded data broadcasting channel signal when returning to the data broadcasting with a channel change. When the channel is changed during reception of a data broadcasting signal, version information of a data broadcasting program is stored. When data broadcasting prior to channel change is returned, a previously recorded data broadcasting program is reproduced(S34). Version information of a newly received data broadcasting program is identical to the stored version information, recording of the data broadcasting program is restarted from the time when the version information of the newly received data broadcasting program is identical to the stored version information(S36).
