An information processing apparatus, an information processing method, and a program are provided to restrain power consumption of a battery after transition to a suspended state. An embedded controller initializes a timer to 0 and starts counting of a lamp time of a suspended state(S1001). The embedded controller determines whether external power is being supplied to a DC-DC converter(S1002). If no external power is supplied, the embedded controller acquires an output voltage of a battery from the DC-DC converter and determines whether the output voltage is lower than a certain threshold value(S1003). If the output voltage of the battery is not lower than the certain threshold value, the embedded controller determines whether a lapse time of the suspended state has exceeded a certain time(S1004). If the lapse time has exceeded the time, the embedded controller determines to transition to a hibernation state and changes temporary stop state information of starting method determining information stored in an internal memory from the suspended state to the hibernation state(S1005). The embedded controller stops supplying power to an SDRAM by controlling the DC-DC converter according to the determination of transitioning to the hibernation state(S1006).
