<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that gradation correction of color is performed even in a color copying machine or a printer of electrographic type or the like performing monochrome printing and copying only, and in the conventional technology, the copying machine or the printer performing job only using black toner consumes color toner since operation is performed while using much toner when gradation correction forms toner images (patches) on a photosensitive drum or the like. <P>SOLUTION: A color image forming device carries out a monochrome control mode performing gradation correction of black toner only and a color control mode performing gradation correction of the black toner and the color toner.
