<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas generator 100 capable of securing a gas flow passage of gas generated in a combustion chamber 3 and relaxing an increase of pressure in a housing 1. <P>SOLUTION: This gas generator is provided with the long cylindrical housing 1 having a filter 4 at the inside, the combustion chamber 3 formed in the housing 1 and filled with gas generating agent 2 for generating high temperature gas by combustion, a gas generating agent ignition means including igniting powder 6, mounted at an end part on the combustion chamber 3 side in the housing 1 and igniting and burning the gas generating agent 2 in the combustion chamber 3, and a gas discharge cylinder 12 mounted at an end part on the filter 4 side in the housing 1.
