PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for repairing the weld between a jet pump diffuser adapter and a tail pipe. SOLUTION: A clamp assembly connects a diffuser adapter or a lower ring to the diffuser tail pipe of a jet pump diffuser of a boiling-water reactor. The clamp assembly includes at least two clamp segments (12) formed so as to generally conform to the periphery of the diffuser, a swivel link (14) attached to each end of each clamp segment, and at least two coupling bands (16) rotatablly mounted on the swivel link between the end of the clamp segment and a clamp segment end. Each clamp segment includes locking assemblies (20, 22) which can be engaged with the diffuser adapter or the lower ring and the diffuser tail pipe. The clamp assembly structurally replaces/repairs the weld zone which joins the diffuser adapter or lower ring to the diffuser tail pipe. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
