PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress occurrence of image defects due to scratching of a photoreceptor in repeated use. SOLUTION: An electrophotographic apparatus has a transfer separation mechanism by which a transfer material is separated from a photoreceptor, wherein a surface layer of the photoreceptor contains a polyarylate having a specific constitutional unit.
