PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a slice stretch surely that is formed from an embedded block, without having to adhere floating substances thereto, while reducing the load applied to a worker, as much as possible. SOLUTION: This stretching device 1 is constituted so as to stretch the slice M, which is formed by slicing an embedding block, in which a physiological specimen is embedded, in such a state that the slice M is floated on a liquid W1, until it is scooped on a substrate G and is equipped with: a stretching bath 2 constituted so that the liquid is stored in a space surrounded by the base and side walls and the substrate is inserted in the liquid from above; a liquid amount adjusting means 3 for supplying the liquid to the stretching bath, after the slice is scooped on the substrate to allow the liquid to overflow from the stretching bath and adjusting the amount of the liquid so that the surface of the liquid is positioned at a predetermined height, spaced apart from the base by a fixed distance; and a liquid discharge means 4 for recovering the liquid overflowing from the stretching bath and discharging the recovered liquid to the outside.
